Blog #32 - New Year New Me? W/ Resources

Happy New Year everyone! I hope January has been good so far. If you are anything like me your January feels like a hungover Sunday. 2024 felt like a big bash, with lots of growth, change, and challenges connected by a lot of partying.

I want to go into 2025 with some changes, like most I see the new year as a great chance to start fresh. I want to be more disciplined with my finances and constant partying. I also want to on a personal level use the new year as an opportunity to abandon unhelpful limiting beliefs. Beliefs I had carried up to and throughout 2024. I needed to figure out exactly what I had learned over the past year and what I wanted to do differently in 2025, typical to me I decided that a lot of writing would be the best solution.

In the last week of 2024 and the first week of 2025 I took my time and worked on a large worksheet which asked me to reflect on the year, the lessons it had for me and make plans for 2025. I'm so glad I took the time to do that. The worksheet covered many topics from limiting beliefs and new empowering ones to replace them with to positive routines, values, areas for improvement and reflections. Since completing the document I've been walking around with a sense of contentment and excitement.

The workbook provided me with the opportunity to bring together all my learnings from 2024 and design a new mindset and attitude to adopt in 2025. It is very easy to enter a new year with big plans only to mess up and give up. New Year New Me can be quite toxic, especially on social media where the standard seems impossible to reach. I'm choosing to enter 2025 with compassion for myself. I'm making positive changes in my life with the expectation that I will likely fuck up and miss days and that's okay. The expectation to commit like a machine is just not realistic.

Being kinder to myself is at the core of the changes I want to make in my life. Instead of fixating on the days, I've screwed up or the ways I'm not where I wanna be. I'm creating the life I want to live in each moment by treating myself like my best friend or someone I want the best for.

I'm using my workbook as a manual that I will go back to when I lose myself in the noise. I really recommend everyone fill out a workbook like this during that December/January period. It does not matter that it’s not "New Years" anymore it’s that time of the year when we look both forward and backward. I'm a blabber so my workbook ended up being 11 pages. Yours could only be a couple of pages or could be twice the size of mine. It really does not matter as long as you've had the chance to reflect on what you've learned and found a way to implement it. I've attached a template for one which is based on the one I made and completed. Of course, feel free to make one of your own that is much more personal and reflective of your 2024 journey, mine certainly was.

Here is the Reflection template. Simply click “File” then “Make A Copy” & you will have your very own reflection to fill out.

I hope you enjoyed the read and hope some people get some use out of this template. Let me know your resolutions below. Happy New Year!
